Last week, EA gave us another incredibly early look at Skate 4, inviting players to sign up to playtest the game. And now, as reported by Eurogamer, not even a week later footage has leaked online. To be clear, this is expressly against the terms set by EA when agreeing to take part in the playtest, but that’s never stopped anyone in the past. A YouTube video showing off the footage has now been taken down, but a Reddit post collating an introduction video and three gameplay videos via some Google Drive links still lets people take a look at the upcoming skateboarding game....

I didn’t think about it much - it’s a strange, floaty bug/land-based marine-looking animal thing, and this is the world of Death Stranding, where nothing really makes sense anyway. So I thought, sure, why wonder what on earth is going on with cryptobiotes when they’re not even close to being the weirdest thing in Death Stranding....

This comes from Bloomberg, who says that people familiar with the situation provided them this information. In a financial briefing, Sony said it expects exponential growth to be sustained by PC titles beyond its current fiscal year. PC revenue for the firm has climbed year-over-year from $35 million in 2020 to $80 million in 2021. It expects to hit $300 million by the end of FY 2022, which ends on March 31, 2023. Splatoon 3 retains the original games’ 4v4 action, where two teams compete to cover the arena with paint. The game will introduce new main and special weapons, but the real interesting changes come to the single-player campaign. Dubbed Return of the Mammalians, this mode will explore why all mammals have vanished from the game’s world, and let you encounter them for the first time. They’re two cats. Splatoon 3 takes place in Inklings’ native Splatlands, where the Splatsville city is located....

The new update from the studio doesn’t make for encouraging reading for anyone expecting to get their hands on the single-player portion of Star Citizen any time soon. Director Chris Roberts posted in a new update on the studio’s blog revealing that Squadron 42 itself is nowhere near complete. “[…] I have decided that it is best to not show Squadron 42 gameplay publicly, nor discuss any release date until we are closer to the home stretch and have high confidence in the remaining time needed to finish the game to the quality we want....

The latest Steam build, available now in beta, brings a surprise addition for fans of niche control schemes. Valve has implemented support for Jibb Smart’s Flick Stick. Flick stick is a relatively new way of using controllers that utilises both the right analogue stick, as well as gyroscope to offer finer camera control. It works best with controllers that have built-in gyro, such as the DualShock 4 and Switch Pro Controller, but any controller can technically use flick stick....

Steam Next Fest: June 2022 Edition will start on June 13 and end the following week on June 20. As usual, you can expect tons of free demos from all sorts of upcoming games on Steam. This incentive gives developers a chance to start building an audience and gather early feedback on their games. If you’re a dedicated Steam player and wanted to experinece the Chaos-fuelled nonsense of Jack and his buddies at launch, we may have some bad news for you: it looks like the game is exclusive to Epic Games Store only for the foreseeable. Sometimes, we’ll see games that launch on Epic Games Store come to other platforms later (similarly to how PlayStation or Xbox get one-year exclusivity deals) but the branding and marketing for Square Enix’s latest Final Fantasy experiment suggests we’ll only be seeing the game on the Epic storefront for now....

The Good Life is being developed by White Owls and led by Swery, creator of Deadly Premonition, and Yukio Futatsugi, creator of Panzer Dragoon and Phantom Dust. Originally slated for release this summer, along with a new publisher, the game has been pushed into fall 2021. In the game, you play as journalist Naomi Hayward who is drowning in debt. To help pay the bills, she has accepted a request from The Morning Bell newspaper to “uncover the mystery of a small English town” called Rainy Woods....

In a new tech demo (via IGN), Valve shows off some of the Steam Deck’s more interesting features – specifically focusing on the built-in gyroscopic controls that can combine with its capacitive touchpads and thumbsticks, giving you more control over your game than you may have seen before. “We have capacitive touch joysticks,” explained Valve designer Scott Dalton. “And one of the really cool things about that is we can use that in tandem with our gyroscope to sort of turn on or turn off gyroscopic aiming and motion controls in games....

The news was confirmed in a note to investors, which says that the deal values Codemasters at a cool £759 million (US$994 million). We all dearly wish we could have seen Hideo Kojima’s take on Silent Hill (and obviously so does he), but unfortunately we likely never will, outside of any footage of PT that’s currently online. PT was an incredibly promising demo, and now due to its cancellation isn’t even downloadable for those that owned it at any point in time.
