Alongside a new map, subscription service and Battle Pass, some new elements have appeared in Fortnite’s classic Battle Royale mode. NPCs now hand out Bounties you can complete during a match and there are lots of Gold Bars to find. In this latest season, a mysterious substance has appeared on the island, which is very chrome in look and presumably feel. Using a chrome splash has an interesting effect, where throwing it at a wall will let you literally just walk through it, which sounds like a fun way to mix things up. Chroming yourself, a sentence I never thought I’d write, will let you speed around as a blob while sprinting, and during the limited buff you’ll be immune to fire damage....

11 bit has announced Frostpunk 2, the sequel to the acclaimed 2018 strategy game. In development for PC, Frostpunk 2 takes place 30 years after the events of the main game. This is still a world of harsh cold, with oil replacing coal as the means of sustaining your city. Not everyone is on board with this, it seems, so you’re going to run into opposition when you decide to leave coal behind in the search for oil....

A new tweet from the official Summer Game Fest account has confirmed that the next game from Gearbox Software will be announced at the very start of E3 proper, later this week. “Prepare for the reveal of a new adventure from @GearboxOfficial and @2K during #SummerGameFest Kickoff Live on June 10,” reads the tweet. The teases are tagged with ‘be chaotic great’, which points to a new website with a countdown to the Thursday event....

Reported by The Hollywood Reporter, Netflix has been able to acquire the media rights and partner up with developer, The Coalition, for the projects. Since 2007 alone, there have been a few attempts at adapting Gears of War. Both New Line Cinema and Universal Pictures tried their hand at it, but nothing came to fruition in the end. Over time, the IP itself has turned hands since first being owned by Epic Games, with both the IP and developer, The Coalition, currently being owned by Microsoft....

Then, once you’ve raised your level high enough to reach the first soft cap of Level 20, Ascension Materials come into play. After you reach a certain level in Genshin Impact, you need Ascension Materials to continue your progression. The Genshin Impact soundtrack is now streamable through Apple Music and Spotify. The soundtrack features three discs: “City of Winds and Idylls”, “The Horizon of Dandelion”, and “Saga of the West Wind” giving you 63 songs from the Mondstadt region to listen to. It doesn’t seem music from the Liyue area is included as of at this time. If you are interested in hearing a bit of it though, the video above features the recording of selected music for the Liyue region composed by Yu-Peng Chen....

Looking over the updated announcement, it appears the body has removed the statement “It is also planned to deactivate cost traps such as ’loot boxes’ by default.” Essentially, the Bundestag has changed the wording suggesting all games with loot boxes should carry a PEGI-18. The body still wants loot boxes and other “interaction risks” such as in-game chat, to be taken into account when deciding on an age rating. Hot off the heels of the game’s recent free weekend, Ubisoft has announced the Ghost Recon Breakpoint Friend Pass, and a limited trial. The Friend Pass allows owners of the game on PC, PS4 or Xbox One to invite up to three friends to join their game completely free. Those invited will just need to download the trial version (essentially the full version). You can only invite players on the same platform, but there are no other limitations as far as content....

As promised, Ghost Recon Breakpoint developer Ubisoft detailed the game’s immersive mode in a new post. It brings a complete overhaul to many of the game’s mechanics, and has been renamed to the Ghost Experience. Unfortunately, as the result of this shift in focus, the developer elected to cancel the game’s second raid. Not much about that raid had been revealed, but it was planned for release at some point this year....

We were surprised as you were when we found this out when Billy Thompson, co-studio director at Rockstar Dundee posted a picture of GTA 2-branded wine alongside a still-sealed PC version of that game on Twitter. GTA 2 turned 21 yesterday (Thursday, October 22). A quick Google for Casara Roveri Cabernet tells us that this is a fruity wine, with “good ageing potential” of… up to 10 years. We’re not sure that this will have aged quite as well as Rockstar’s blockbuster crime series and might, in fact, have turned to vinegar by now....

Reports of GTA 4 and Red Dead Redemption have been floating around for quite a while, with the most recent rumor surfacing in 2021. Now, word on the street is that Rockstar was indeed working on spiffing up both games for an eventual release on newer systems, but plans have changed. According to GTA insider Tez2, Rockstar scrapped plans for both remasters, likely due to how poorly GTA: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition was received....
