Microsoft has rolled out the latest version of the Xbox app across Android and iOS. The updated version overhauls the app’s design, bringing it in line with the new console UI for Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S. Many of the app’s features have been available in previous versions, but some arrive for the first time on iOS. One such addition is remote play support, which allows Xbox One owners to stream games they own to their iOS devices over the internet, or on the same network....

In the trailer – embedded below – you can see a couple of new bits and pieces that you’ll find in the impressive remake that didn’t make the cut in the original version of the game. First up, there’s the new ‘15 Nightmares’ dungeon which is a high-difficulty dungeon released initially launched as DLC for the original game, but which has now been folded into the main game. If you clear the dungeon, you’ll be able to obtain bonus costumes (Kabuki and Samurai) and weapons (some of which you’d have used in Nier: Automata)....

This is according to Sensor Tower (thanks GI.biz), which reports the figure was generated within three years of launch. It is a rather popular game, and during its first week of availability, Mario Kart Tour topped 20 million downloads across Android and iOS worldwide. Along with news of the rather large figure comes word that Nintendo plans to remove loot boxes from the game. According to the company, the feature will be replaced by a Spotlight Shop via an update in late September....

The Prisms update is now available for No Man’s Sky, and it adds plenty of visual improvements. These improvements include reflections, new texture effects, more biome detail, improved lighting, new skies, new warp effects, creature fur, and more. You can expect support for screen space reflection (SSR) technology for PC, next-generation consoles, and Xbox One X. This allows starships and lifeforms to create reflections as they move, and lighting in reflective areas will feel higher quality and more realistic....

The Nintendo Switch version of No Man’s Sky will be published digitally by Bandai Namco through Nintendo’s eshop and physically through all retailers. A physical PlayStation 5 version will also be made available on the same day. Since its release in 2016, the game has received six years’ worth of major content drops totaling 20 to date. Day one players on Switch can expect all previously released content along with continuous updates in the future....

With the release date for Cyberpunk 2077 pushed back to September 2020, now’s the ideal time to consider playing Cyberpunk in its original form: as a tabletop RPG. Drawn from the seedy worlds seen in books such as Phillip K. Dick’s Blade Runner and William Gibson’s Neuromancer, the main setting of the Cyberpunk world is the high-tech sprawl of Night City. The amount of content in the upcoming Assassin’s Creed Valhalla is once again the topic of discussion. After Ubisoft’s Middle East spokesperson said the game won’t be the biggest or longest in the series, a Valhalla developer has now weighed in. Assassin’s Creed Valhalla producer Julien Laferriere revealed in an interview with YouTuber Julien Chieze that the world map in Valhalla is actually bigger than Odyssey’s already massive landmass. In the interview, which was translated on Reddit, Laferriere said that because the game’s map is made up of the country of England as well as parts of Norway, its size edges it ahead of all other Assassin’s Creed games....

Upgrades also include full ray tracing, hand-crafted hi-res physically-based textures, and enhanced high-poly models evocative of the originals. GeForce 40 Series GPU users will see a 2.8X increase in performance, making the game incredibly smooth and responsive compared to native rendering....

What this means is that the game, one that has a fond place in the hearts of many a fighting game player, will have a far less frustrating online experience with less lag and freezes. That is, as long as it is implemented well. The news comes via the official Guilty Gear Twitter account, and as you may have imagined has gone down a treat among the community of the game who can be found in droves in the comments of the announcement....

Bloomberg has reported that Sonny will leave the company on Friday, September 24. In a message to staff, he reportedly noted that his five years with the studio have been “an absolute privilege and one of the best experiences of my career”. The note did not reference the on-going harrassment lawsuit currently under investigation at Activision Blizzard. Sonny was overseeing development on Overwatch 2, a game which also lost its director, Jeff Kaplan, some five months earlier....

Patch 7.3 for PUBG dropped earlier today on PC’s live servers. The patch’s biggest addition is bringing back the parachute follow feature, which originally debuted in a February test patch but was removed before it made it onto live servers. Parachute follow works in a similar way to Apex Legends’, in that it allows all players in a squad to essentially be lead by a single teammate, who will direct everyone to their destination....

After years of hoping, wishing, and praying, fans of the series can now rest easy as Victoria 3 has finally been announced. The game takes place in the early 19th century and is a society simulator where you will track the needs and desires of national populations. Each group has its own political and material preferences. There are conservative factions that may “resist political reform” as growing numbers of tradespeople and intellectuals “push for a greater say in how the nation is run....

The Studio Colorido-animated Pokemon: Twilight Wings is a seven-episode, limited animated based on the Galar region of Pokemon Sword and Shield. It stars a young boy named John who has been in the hospital since an early age. In the series, he’s a huge fan of Champion Leon and dreams of one day watching him battle in a stadium instead of on tv. Episode One: Letter is now available to watch on YouTube....

There’s the Festival of Lights and the next Community Day starring the flash-Pokemon Shinx on the calendar. November will also usher in a new Breakthrough Encounter and a nice variety of Pokemon will be appearing in raids and during spotlight hours. November Research Breakthrough encounters will kick off on the first and run through December 1 with Vullaby the star of the show. New weekly 1 PokeCoin bundles will be available every Monday during November, and each will contain a Remote Raid pass to help you catch one of the larger Pokemon coming that month....

Global maintenance will take Pokemon Go offline on Monday, June 1 and it is expected to last seven hours. This will make the game inaccessible to all players, obviously. Maintenance will start at 11am PT, 2pm ET, 7pm BT, and 8pm CET. The servers will be brought back online at 6pm PT and 9pm ET. In the UK and Europe, the game will go live again at 2am BT and 3am CET....

Once you boost your Pokemon Go trainer level to level 5, you’ll unlock a new feature for the game: raid battles. These battles take place at Pokemon Gyms out in the world at random times of day, replacing the usual back and forth for control between the Pokemon Go Gym Teams with an all-hands-on-deck battle against a super-powerful boss Pokemon, where players of all kinds can work together to bring that Pokemon down....

The final Ultra Unlock bonus earned by Pokemon Go players for completing global challenges during Pokemon Go Fest has been announced. Niantic announced today the third unlock will feature Sword and Shield Pokemon, which means Pokemon originally discovered in the Galar region will be making their debuts. The final part of this year’s Ultra Unlock will feature the Pokemon Go debuts of two Legendary Pokemon Zacian and Zamazenta, in their Hero of Many Battles forms....

The first Pokemon Sword and Shield DLC as part of the Expansion Pass, The Isle of Armor, will be released on June 17. Alongside the release date and new trailer, information on newly discovered Pokemon, new Gigantamax forms, exclusive moves, and more were also revealed. The Isle of Armor is the first new area to be added to the Galar region. It is a large island which features Pokemon not previously found in other areas of the game....

On Friday afternoon, news of a potential hostage situation at Ubisoft Montreal hit Twitter after the police advised people to stay clear of developer’s offices. In an initial tweet, the department tweeted: To see this content please enable targeting cookies. Several employees were seen on the roof of the building with the door barricaded, as filmed by PM Breaking News here....
