It’s fair to say that for many people Game Pass is the platform – the Xbox console/PC/mobile is just how they access it. Losing two big games seems like a bit of a problem, especially when you look at the year that’s been, what else is to come, and what happened last year. At the end of 2021 Xbox had a couple of its own big-hitters arrive. Forza Horizon 5 and Halo Infinite both qualify as proper AAA goodness....
David Saunders, former product management lead at id Software who held the role from 2017 to 2020, has posted a Linkedin update revealing that the most recent Doom game has raked in over $450 million in revenue since it launched on March 20, 2020 (thanks, Resetera). Doom Eternal, per Saunders, was a “major focus” for developer id, and that dedication to the series clearly paid off, because the game “generated over $450 million in revenue” in its first nine months on sale....
The game is an eight-person online multiplayer that combines both cooperative and competitive modes full of asymmetrical online survival action. Breakers consists of 7v1 matches where seven normal “Survivors” have been sucked into a mysterious phenomenon called the “Temporal Seam”. Here, they must contend with the overwhelming power of the eighth player, the franchise iconic rival “Raider,” whose task is to obliterate the Survivor team. The Survivors won’t have any superpowers and must rely on various power-up items, weapons, and pilotable vehicles to battle and evade the Raider while searching for the Super Time Machine to escape....
Dragon Quest Builders 2 initially launched worldwide back in July 2019 on both Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4, hitting PC a few months later in December 2019 – but the game never made it to Xbox consoles. That’s about to change, however. A Microsoft store page appeared for Dragon Quest Builders 2 over the past 24 hours, noting that the RPG spinoff is coming to Xbox One and Xbox Game Pass (for console and PC) on May 3 (May 4 in Europe)....
Dragon’s Dogma, initially released back in 2012, was jointly directed by Devil May Cry veteran Hideaki Itsuno and Monster Hunter’s Kento Kinoshita, and it shows: there was a really strong focus on hack-and-slash action and taking on giant monsters. In fact, I remember Capcom’s marketing focusing on the massive boss battles you and your companions could face in the fantasy world of Gransys. Dragon’s Dogma already toyed with some action RPG and open-world elements that would explode in later years, following Skyrim and Dark Souls’ popularity....
Well, EA could be set to finally announce the existence of the game. Need for Speed’s Twitter account has been tweeting out suspicious messages that appear to be hinting at the game. Tweets include nods to Big Joe’s Pizzeria, cop cars, and the number 510 (which is the police call code for street racing). If that’s not enough for you, we’ve also seen a page appear on Need for Speed’s official website that has a countdown that expires on October 5, 2020, at 8am PT/11am ET/4pm BST....
EA launched Rocket Arena - a 3v3 hero shooter - on July 14. Season One kicked off two weeks later on July 28, and featured cross-play for PC, PS4, and Xbox One. As the name implies, it’s a game where you launch loads of rockets at people in an arena. However, despite being on the market for less than two months, Rocket Arena was recently put on sale for $5, possibly to instigate growth in its fledgling community....
This week, EA published the full year financials for its FY2020, and confirmed most of the games coming between now and March 2021. One such mystery is an unannounced project EA simply referred to as “HD game.” The publisher didn’t specifically say anything about the project, not even hinting that it could be a remaster/remake of an old game. It turns out, at least according to Games Beat, the project is indeed a remaster....

On May 19, Elite Dangerous: Odyssey will be made available on PC via Steam, the Epic Games Store and FrontierStore.net. You can pre-order the expansion for £29.99/$39.99/€34.99. The Deluxe Alpha expansion pack is still available, and it will run you £39.99/$54.99/€46.99. This includes the Odyssey expansion, access to the ongoing Alpha phase ending April 30, and the official soundtrack. Both pre-order packs grant access to the exclusive Pioneer suit skin as a pre-order bonus....
Think of it like Steam Direct, basically. By allowing studios and publishers to add their own products to the store, Epic is hoping the store library will “grow faster than ever before” – a boon for both consumers and developers alike. The beta is invite-only at the time of writing, but anyone interested in accessing the new tools can apply to Epic to be considered for the beta. “Sign up is now open to participate in a closed beta for a new suite of Epic Games Store self-publishing tools," said Epic....
The final big update will include more enemies, equipment types, challenges, and add more polish to the game’s cinematics. It’s also bringing one more companion and a whole new star system to explore. Everspace 2 will arrive on consoles, but that’s only limited to PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S. You can expect them to release in the summer, but those hoping to play the game on PS4 and Xbox One will be disappointed to learn that those versions have been cancelled....
All content in the demo is based on the game’s most recent Early Access update, which added a new star system, new companion, new ship and more. The Everspace 2 demo includes the game’s first five main missions, as well as two side missions. Because you’ll have access to the entirety of the first sector of the Ceto system, you’ll also come across a number of random encounters and secrets....
Back in August, we got an indie-focused Xbox livestream where Rebellion revealed Evil Genius 2 would be launching for Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PS4 and PS5 later in the year. Now, two months later, we’ve learned that the console versions are due for release on November 30. The supervillain management simulator is due to land day one on Xbox Game Pass, too – so you can look forward to taking over the word at no extra cost then if you’re subbed to Microsoft’s great value service....
Released on November 22, the developer, Giants Software self-published this time out and was able to streamline communication with international distributors and extend the network. And, it paid off. The series community is also growing with the series thanks to cross-platform multiplayer which helps connect more players together. Available on PC as well as current and new-gen platforms, Farming Simulator first came on the scene in 2008 and features both US and European environments....
Following the cover reveal, EA debuted the first trailer for FIFA 22 over the weekend, revealing the first details about this year’s iteration. First, the release date. FIFA 22 is set for release October 1 on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and Switch (legacy). The game is $70 on new consoles, as expected. This is considered the premiere version of FIFA 22, and players on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S will have access to some exciting new gameplay upgrades not available on PC or last-gen consoles....
The upcoming patch is set to be a pretty significant one, introducing a plethora of new content to the game. Futures Rewritten, which was revealed in Final Fantasy XIV’s latest Letter from the Producer stream, will bring new story content, a new raid, and more besides to the on-going MMO. Futures Rewritten’s Raid has been revealed as Eden’s Promise, and will see players being invited by Ryne and Gaia to the Empty to investigate “whether life continues to flourish in the once-barren desert....
Ever since the launch of Endwalker, the latest expansion to the game, it’s been plagued by monstrously long queues to even get into the game, with servers always filled to the brim. In a way, that’s great for Square Enix, as the game has never been more popular. But at a certain point, congestion stunts an MMO’s growth, especially one that just keeps getting more and more popular. “We apologize for the ongoing congestion that has been occurring since Early Access and the official launch of Endwalker,” Yoshida said....
