References to the Star Wars prequel tie-in have been dug up by (in)famous dataminer @NWPlayer123, suggesting that we’re likely to see the cult classic arrive on the Nintendo Switch sooner rather than later. The data on the site seems to suggest that Aspyr Media will be handling development duties, which makes sense – the studio has previously dealt with other modern Star Wars ports of classic games, including colon-greedy titles like Star Wars: Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy and Star Wars: Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast, and Star Wars Episode 1: Racer. In case you’re unfamiliar with the title, Stars Wars: Republic Commando is a first-person squad-based shooter that attracted something of a cult following after its launch on PC and the original Xbox back in 2005. The title was an interesting take on the squad-based tactical shooter, and featured scenes from some of the prequel films that it launched in the same era as. It’s certainly worth a play, and the quality of Aspyr’s other Star Wars projects has been pretty good, so this is a project worth keeping an eye on for Star Wars enthusiasts. Aspyr and its parent company, THQ Nordic, have not officially announced the Switch port at the time of writing.
