With the Season 5 patch for Call of Duty: Warzone and Modern Warfare, developer Infinity Ward buffed the often neglected FR.556 (FAMAS) assault rifle by extending its effective range. Unfortunately, it appears this also boosted the effectiveness off the under-barrel shotgun when attached to an FR.556. In Warzone, a single shot is capable of downing a player with full armour at around 15 meters, a distance that would normally take you more than three shots to down someone. Players have been coming across this more and more recently, but it took a little while to bubble up because under-barrel shotguns are not very popular in multiplayer or Warzone. Until, of course, the bug was discovered and more people started using them. Thankfully, Infinity Ward has confirmed on Twitter that it has “identified the issue with the FR 5.56”, without specifically naming the problem. A fix is currently being worked on, with more details promised for later. To see this content please enable targeting cookies. Unfortunately, while the fix was deployed on all platforms, Xbox One players had to download over 66GB compared to less than 2GB on other platforms.
