A few key details about BioWare’s upcoming sequel have been revealed in BioWare: Stores and Secrets from 25 Years of Game Development, a new art book that takes readers on a tour of BioWare’s colorful history. Eurogamer managed to get its hands on the book, and clocked one key Dragon Age entry within its pages that confirms “the long-awaited follow-up to Dragon Age: Inquisition […] will take players to Tevinter as the events of Inquisition and Trespasser threaten to forever change Thedas.” This location has been hinted at previously, thanks to the end of Inquisition and the events that transpire in the aforementioned Trespasser DLC. We won’t write out spoilers here, but the narrative beats in the DLC and story threads revolving around the divisive elf, Solas, point to Tevinter as the next key location in the world. Eurogamer points out there may be more locations in the game hinted at by the book. “Artwork of a glittering city surrounded by water almost certainly shows Antiva City, the capital of Antiva, an area which borders Tevinter to the east,” lists the site’s Tom Phillips. “Concept art for an Antivan Crow is also shown; a theatrical assassin ‘celebrated for their mastery of stylish slaying’ who wears an elaborate mask, wields a glowing sword, and has several actual crow sidekicks.” Dragon Age 4 has been in development for a few years now, and was first teased at The Game Awards back in 2018 before being properly shown off during Gamescom Opening Night Live in August last year. EA has said it expects Dragon Age 4 to arrive in 2022 or after, so don’t get too excited about what you’re seeing here just yet.
