In a major announcement, Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio revealed that Yakuza series creator and longtime creative lead and studio head, Toshihiro Nagoshi, is leaving the studio. Nagoshi will be succeeded by Masayoshi Yokoyama. Producer Daisuke Sato is also departing Sega and Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio. Game director Ryosuke Horii, and producer Hiroyuki Sakamoto will now share core leadership of the studio. The pair did not say where they’re going to end up, but we might have an idea....

I’m not surprised so much as I’m just… confused. I mean, if the whole buzz with Death Stranding was that you drank rapidly-aging Timefall rain filtered through a special flask to convert it into drinkable Monster Energy, then sure, it makes sense that a company could release a limited time exclusive variant of a popular energy drink. Back on Saturday, we reported on rumours that some sort of Unreal Engine 5/The Matrix Resurrections experience is on the way. Now, thanks to a cross-promotional push, we have learned the whole thing is, indeed, real. You can find The Matrix Awakens experience available on the PlayStation and Xbox storefronts right now, and it’s available as a 29GB download on both console platforms. You can get it installed now, ahead of the reveal of the whole experience at The Game Awards 2021 later this week....

Kiriko was announced for the game back in September, where Blizzard revealed she’d be the first new character to come to the game. She is part of the first battle pass, or – if you own the original Overwatch – you can acquire her through your Founder’s Pack (as long as you redeem it by logging into the game before the end of Season Two). As a new character – and sort-of the mascot of Overwatch 2 in these early days – Kiriko has a lot to prove....

Half-Life 2 is a pretty good game, sure, but the most common criticism about the Valve developed title is that there just aren’t enough hot blue foxes in the game, which is absolutely the truth. Thankfully, in 2017, a mod was released that replaces Alyx Vance with probably the most famous blue fox, Krystal, though only her model. Now though, modder Gagnetar is working on an update to the mod that has somehow managed to bring Estelle Ellis out of retirement, and provide a complete rework of Alyx’s lines....

A Minecraft player who goes by the name Janisko has spent the last two years building Chernobyl in the game. Called Chernobyl Universe, the map is being made to play in survival mode and aims to mirror the real Chernobyl Zone. Janisko also sad there will be maps built from the Stalker series. “I am going to build both Chernobyl and other southernmost areas of the zone, as well as the Belarusian part and even the city of Poliske, for example, to inspire Stalker’s Dead City map, " said Janisko on Planet Minecraft....

A Plague Tale: Requiem was first revealed at last year’s E3, but later this week, on June 23, we’re going to get a proper look at gameplay, as well as a release date. “Tune in on June 23 to watch A Plague Tale: Requiem’s release date reveal and an exclusive extended gameplay trailer!” reads the YouTuber Premiere’s description, set to begin at 5pm BST. Currently the game is set to release this year, but we’ll obviously find out this week....

However, one recent exploit might coax players back into DMZ. First reported by GameRant, a player has found a basic glitch to replicate that can bag them hundreds of thousands in cash within a matter of seconds. After discovering the Warzone 2.0 exploit, Twitter user JGODYT shared a clip of the discovery, which you can watch below. In the clip, we see the player look at a weapon and a stack of cash on the ground in front of them....

According to filed court documentation, Activision Blizzard is suing streaming giant Netflix for allegedly stealing one of the game company’s top executive. In 2018, Activision’s chief financial officer Spencer Neumann left the company to join Netflix for the same role. The game publisher seems to be displeased with the way the streaming service handled to acquisition. In a suit filed yesterday (via Variety), Activision’s lawyers tore into Netflix’s handling of the hiring....

The multi-year deal will see all esports events stream live on YouTube worldwide except for China. This includes the Overwatch League, Call of Duty League, Hearthstone Esports, and more. As part of the deal, Google Cloud will serve as the preferred provider for Activision Blizzard’s game hosting infrastructure in order to “deliver superior, low-latency player experiences.” Activision Blizzard will use Google Cloud because of its “highly reliable global footprint, advanced data analytics and AI capabilities” in order to create a platform for “building future gaming innovations....

You will be able to participate in the Apex Legends cross-play beta October 6 through Origin for PC, PS4, and Xbox One. The feature will be enabled by default and will allow you to group up with players on other platforms. You will also be able to use voice-chat. Cross-progression will not be part of this update. How it will work, is players on PS4 and Xbox One will be auto matches while those on the PC will remain together due to configurations....

Respawn has dropped a new episode of Apex Legends’ Stories from the Outlands, a series of videos dedicated to revealing the origin stories of the game’s Legends. The latest episode, Up Close and Personal, is unsurprisingly about Jimmie “Forge” McCormick, the Legend supposedly coming to the game with Season 4. The episode ends with a twist, however, and our first proper look at the Legend we’ve been referring to as Revenant....
