Announced yesterday during the Xbox Indie Twitch showcase, the Exbleative-developed title Exo One has you traversing through a desolate alien landscape using gravity and momentum to reach speeds and heights. You will ride thermal updrafts into boiling cloud formations, fly down hillsides and launch off mountain tops as you are constantly drifting toward a shining blue beam on the horizon. Exo One is being developed by Exbleative (aka, Jay Weston), with help from Rhys Lindsay (music, code) and Dave Kazi (code)....

The sequel to Breath of the Wild, whatever it might be called, is coming out in spring 2023 (hopefully). That’s still about a year away, so all we have is the original game to keep us busy. But playing games by yourself can be a bit solitary in these modern times. Which is where modder Kirbymimi steps in to provide a splitscreen multiplayer mod that is entering into beta this week....

Announced tonight during the Nintendo Direct, Devlover Digital, and Mediatonic revealed Fall Guys will be released for Switch this summer. No further information on the Switch version was provided as of press time. The game’s 3.5 update was released earlier this month, and today, the development team removed the Fall Mountain variation with the spinner at the end as it was causing some weird issues with crown grabbing. It also removed the See-Saw level variation with ‘Vertical See-Saws’ that were causing an impasse/deadlock/stalemate....

You might remember that one of the post-launch updates for Fallout 4 was survival mode, a mode that added things like fatigue, thirst, and illness. It added a big challenge to the game, and kept you on your toes. Now, modder Grimrukh has made a mod that does something very similar, making FromSoftware’s latest even tougher (thanks, PC Gamer). Bethesda announced today the Wastelanders update for Fallout 76 will miss its April 7 release date by one week. The reason for the delay is because, like many in the country at present, the developers are working remotely. This has, in turn, affected the team’s ability to give the update a final test before it was set to release on April 7. Wastelanders will now release on April 14. In the four months since the release of Final Fantasy 7 Remake on PS4, the game has reached over 5 million copies in sales. The figure includes digital sales, and shipments to retailers - meaning the actual number of copies sold to consumers is a little below that. Square Enix broke the news today, saying that Final Fantasy 7 Remake is its best-selling digital game on any PlayStation platform ever....

An animated series based on Final Fantasy 9 is being developed by a French company called Cyber Group Studios who will be working in partnership with Square Enix to get the project out the door. Initially reported by kidscreen and picked up by RPGSite, the series is aiming to get production started by the end of 2021 or beginning of 2022. Currently, the production company is apparently “putting the finishing touches on a project bible”....

A first look at gameplay of Evil Dead: The Game will be revealed during the show, tomorrow, June 10. This will be only the second look we’ve seen of the game, which was announced last year during The Game Awards. The upcoming co-op and PvP multiplayer title is in development for PC, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch. It is slated to be released sometime this year....

Shadow Midas returns to The Authority with a host of spooky Henchmen and it’s your job to eliminate him. If you are eliminated, you can return to the match as a Shadow where you can possess cars and take out our opponents in your new ghostly form and win the Nitemare Royale. There are lots of rewards to earn this year, too, including Midas’ Shadow Wrap, Smash O’-Lantern Pickaxe, the Bobo Back Bling, Wrath’s Wrath Wrap and there will no doubt be some emotes up for grabs, too....

Later in the season, you’ll be able to choose a side: Ghost or Shadow. For this challenge, you’ll need to find and hide in one of the Shadow safe houses around the map. These safe houses aren’t too difficult to find, but you’re likely to find a lot of opponents near these locations, so make sure you either land there first or grab a weapon and get ready for a fight....

Where are the Stormtrooper checkpoint locations in Fortnite? There are three Stormtrooper checkpoints on the map, which we’ve marked in red on the map above: one near the speedway, one near Shifty Shafts, and then a random one way out past the Greasy Grove landmark. Since the challenge requires you to drive a vehicle from Chonker’s Speedway or from Logjam Lumberyard to one of the checkpoints. It’s usually easier to drop near one of those locations – if you can – and drive to one of the checkpoints nearby....

This announcement sadly comes following some leaks earlier in the week. Nonetheless it’s a great surprise for those who like some more high-flying experiences than your typical Forza track, as well as a few loop-de-loops for good measure. According to the company, during release week, the game saw over 10 million players, which makes it the biggest first week in Xbox history. It was also the biggest week ever for a title on Xbox Game Pass. The game isn’t doing too bad on Steam either, as it is currently sitting at number 20 with 45,342 concurrent players at press time, with a 49,809 high. It’s not bad considering the majority of PC players are probably using Game Pass where it’s free, but we don’t have those figures....

The ongoing crisis of the coronavirus outbreak worldwide has taken its toll on the games industry. Multiple major events have now been cancelled, including E3 2020 in June. With the first half of the year now devoid of major events, fans are hopeful the second half of the year will deliver. Now that E3 is out, all eyes are on gamescom 2020. According to event organisers, this year’s edition of the world’s biggest games convention will not be cancelled....

The German Games Industry Association has decided to hold gamescom 2021 entirely online this year. This decision was made after “extensive discussions with partners and exhibitors,” due to the current situation. Because of this, too many companies are unable to participate in physical events this year. So instead of being part live and part digital, the event this year will be held exclusively digitally and free of charge. The show will once again kick off with gamescom: Opening Night Live hosted by Geoff Keighley on Wednesday, August 25....

In an announcement that was posted directly to the forums, Gearbox explains that its forums will becoming read-only as of July 19, 2022, for 30 days. Following this timeframe, the forums will be taken down entirely. Instead, Gearbox have said users should look out for a new Gearbox website, report concerns to its support team, and have referred existing users to its community Discord.
